  • Which brands of Towbars does Premier Towbars recommend? +

We supply and install well known towbar brands such as Milford, Hayman Reese, Trailboss and Westfalia, all of which you can be assured are quality components with excellent workmanship provided for your installation.
  • What warranty is provided with Towbar installation? +

All towbars from Premier Towbars come with a Lifetime warranty that is covered Australia wide.
  • Will my vehicle warranty still be valid if I fit an after market towbar? +

Fitting a towbar after your new car has been delivered, will not create an issue with your new vehicle warranty. Car sales representatives may suggest that to you however this is not the case. The only proviso when fitting a towbar on a new vehicle is that you stay within the recommended towing capacity for your particular vehicle.
  • Do I have to leave the trailer ball mount in the hitch receiver when I am not towing? +

You can leave a trailer ball mount in it's hitch receiver provided your rear vehicle license plate is not obscured. It is possible to include a locking hitch pin to replace the standard pin and clip if required. A hitch box cover is ideal though if you prefer to store the trailer ball mount off the vehicle. This can also assist in keeping dirt and water out of the hitch receiver.
  • How can I determine the rating or capacity of my vehicle? +

Check the tow rating of your vehicle in your vehicle handbook. One vehicle may be different from another. The ratings shown in your handbook should include weight capacities for both the trailer and the trailer ball.
  • How can I check my ball weight? +

Ball weight refers to the weight on the front end of the trailer not carried over the axles. As a rule you should aim to have 10 percent of the total trailer weight as ball weight. This can be measured at a weigh bridge by resting the jockey wheel only on the scale.
  • Do I need to alter the suspension in my vehicle for towing? +

The load of your trailer when connected to your vehicle, is distributed across all wheels of your vehicle using a weight distribution hitch which returns a vehicle to it's normal height. Where a vehicle (eg a Ute) permanently carries a heavier weight than a regular vehicle in it's rear cargo area, it may be appropriate to install higher carrying capacity springs. The rear vehicle axle should ideally not be overloaded to ensure maximum traction of all wheels on road surfaces.
